Monday, April 28 The Forgotten Lives of Ordinary People Along the Erie Canal 6PM

at the Canastota Public Library (Lawson Room) by Dr. Mark Ferrara


Sunday, May 4 Spring Migration at the Great Swamp Conservancy, Main Street 10AM-3PM 

Tuesday, May 6 The Ghost of Nathan Roberts an Interview 

by Ross Stagnitti 6PM at the Canastota Public Library (Children’s Room)

Wednesdays-starting May 7 Canal Walks, 4PM weekly (1 mile) start at the Canastota Public Library 

Tuesday, May 13 10AM Chamber of Commerce Dedication of the Jim Caldwell bench at the Canastota Post Office

Wednesday, May 14 Opening for the season the Canastota Canal Town Museum (Wednesday-Saturday 12 noon to 3PM)

Saturday, May 17 Guided Bird Walk of birds seen along the canal 

at the Great Swamp Conservancy 7AM-8:30AM

Friday, June 6 The Erie Canal and the Underground Railroad

at the Great Swamp Conservancy 7PM 

Sunday, June 8 the Boxing Hall of Fame weekend, Parade at Noon on Peterboro Street. Come see the Watson wagon 

and meet Nathan Roberts.

July 12-20 Cycle the Erie Canal, a bicycle tour from Buffalo to Albany. Passing through Canastota on the 17th, the bicyclists are usually passing through town early morning thru lunch time. Stop at the Museum and meet the riders(toddlers to senior) from all over the Country.

Saturday and Sunday July 19-20 Erie Canal themed Quilts at the Great Swamp Conservancy from 10AM-3PM 

Thursday, July 24 Museum Open House and 1825 Canal side Events

on Canal Street from 5-8PM. Farmer’s Market, Live Mules, Games, 

Food Trucks, Music, Nathan Roberts, here the story of an Erie Canal Boat Captain by Michelle Henry, Raffles and more. Come in costume.

Friday, July 25 a 1925 Gatsby Gala at Greystone Castle, 201 N. Main Street, Canastota (for more information visit Canastota-canal.com )

Saturday, July 26 CANA-L-STOTA on Canal Street noon to 5PM

Saturday, August 2 Old Home Day in Whitelaw. 12 noon-Parade, BBQ ending with the Erick D. Stevens Memorial Fireworks.

Saturday, August 16 Italian American Festival on Canal Street 11AM-6PM

Wednesday, September 24-Sunday, October 26 The Seneca Chief Bicentennial Voyage from Buffalo to New York City  

October 4-5 in Syracuse 

October 6 in Brewerton 

October 7 in Sylvan Beach

October 8 in Rome 

Wednesday, October 15-Annual Canal Town Meeting at Theodore’s Resturant, Seneca Turnpike, Canastota at 5:30PM
